I have owned this car since 1976. It was first driven back and forth to school then stored in various back yards and garages until my brother and I started its restoration in 2001. In its early days this car suffered a great deal of abuse. It was ready for the junk heap, but because it is an original “K” 1965 fastback the closest cousin to the Shelby’s we felt it deserved to be put back into shape. We started with sheet metal and paint which included almost everything. Then we went to the under carriage which now has sub frame connectors and a complete Shelby suspension including the relocated A-arms, Koni shocks and a 9” rear end with 3:50 gears. From there we went to the interior which includes a street roll bar and Deluxe Pony upholstery. Last but not least, the engine. When the car was purchased back in 1976 the original engine was long gone. I was able to get a complete 66” K motor and rebuild it using a bunch of internal upgrades. I wanted it to look as original as possible but use current technology. Things like windage tray, roller cam lifters and timing chain, ported heads, Ford Racing Intake, Restored Ford 4100 carburetor, Ford dual point distributor with Petronix ignition, Hooker Super comp headers, 2 ½ inch exhaust with an X pipe crossover were used to complete the package. Its first début was along side our 1966 Shelby at SAAC 32.
