I bought the car my 40th Anniversary edition in 2005 shortly after returning from Iraq. It was a gem that stood out from all the other cars on the dealership lot in Temple, Texas. A week after I drove it off the lot I signed out on leave and took an awesome road trip to Denver, Seattle, LA, Vegas and back to Fort Hood. Three months later I was on the road again heading for Seattle (via Houston, New Orleans, Jacksonville Fla., Columbia SC, St. Louis and Sturgis). From Seattle I shipped the car to Germany where the Germans fell in love with it. Once on a drive to Paris I was stopped by the French border police – they surrounded the car (scaring the hell out of us). When I rolled down the window an officer said, “Zis is very’ niice, what is zee horsepow’er”.
Unfortunately I traded it in after my return to the states. All is not too bad however; I traded for a 2009 GT!
